The year is 2790 something and Porter Pridepickle has a gift for talking his way out of a pickle. But at the moment he’s in the bind of his life. After working on contract to steal one of the galaxy’s most expensive starships from one of the nastiest interplanetary underworld leaders, Porter has found himself prisoner of Jabberot Porterbelly, possibly the meanest alien of the 43rd quadrant.

But Porter knows Jobberot’s weakness – gambling. So he places a wager with Jobberot. He bets that he can steal an entire fleet of starships, or he’ll work indefinitely as a slave for Jobberot.

Now he has just three nebuweeks (about 9 weeks earth time) to pull together a skilled team of space-thieves capable of pulling off the largest theft in the history of the known universe.
