The year is 2950 something. Population control is strictly enforced based on means and most children are born into wealthy families. As such, much of the world’s poorer population starts to die off. Automation has made labor a thing of the past and the poor are nothing but a drain on resources.

With this new found majority-wealth the desire to live a second life has become a popular idea. Why not live multiple lives if you know you’ll be born right back into wealth?  One scientist, Frank Picklesnipper, has cracked the code and invented a soul transferring machine that can do just that. But the end result provides merely a deja vu type experience. There is no transfer of memory. Or is there? Once they reach their thirteenth birthdays, some of those with second lives start to remember. And the result is anything but what was expected.
